With a colorful
history going back seven decades, the Toppenish
Pow Wow Rodeo is the Yakima Valleys premier
Fourth of July event.
- It’s professional rodeo on the nights of July 4, 5 & 6, with the traditional Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned action beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Professional cowboys will vie for more than $28,000 of prize money in bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, team roping and steer wrestling. Saturday Night Bulls, a PRCA Extreme Bulls qualifier, is scheduled for Saturday, July 7 and you definitely don’t want to miss this action.
- July 4, 5 & 6 join us for an Old Fashioned Good Time with “Cowgirl Tricks” performing on the Coca-Cola Stage, with the incorporation of roping tricks, comedy and audience participation in every show. Throughout the day and evening, look for Lucky Starr as she roams the grounds entertaining young and old alike.
- July 6 & 7, Eric Haines-Juggler, Unicyclist, Comedian and Stilt Walker will be performing on the Coca-Cola Stage. If he’s not on the stage, you will likely see him roaming the grounds on his stilts or juggling while riding his unicycle. You might even see him walking with his marionette puppets!
- July 4, 5, 6 & 7 you won’t want to leave the arena after the rodeo! Mosey on down towards the outdoor Saloon and listen to the sounds of Lil’ Mikey, a local DJ, who will provide an array of music that will appeal to all in attendance. If sitting or standing around isn’t your gig, feel free to kick up your heels a bit!
- The Pow Wow Indian Village is part of the rodeo’s beginnings more than 73 years ago. Daily, visitors can listen to the traditional drums and songs while watching dancers in full regalia. Don’t forget to sample Indian fry bread or watch the stick games.
- One of the largest carnivals in the Pacific Northwest-Davis Amusement-Cascadia will bring plenty of thrills for anyone young at heart. Why not purchase an all-day ride pass for $18! The kids can ride until their hearts’ content and you can catch all the exciting action on the grounds. Pre-sale All-Day-Ride passes will be available at a discount price prior to July 4th at the following locations: The Market Place, Toppenish Chamber of Commerce and the Toppenish Rodeo ticket office. The price of the Carnival ticket does not include gate admission. The on-site price is $23.
